As the war against the Empire grew and the posturing against the Draconian Kingdom was reaching its breaking point, a new weapon was needed more than ever. Valour turned towards its psi-op division for new battlefield applications to combat the ubiquitous magic the enemies of Valour employ.
It was an already low graduation rate for psi-officers but to provide additional stress of the mind for more practical application seemed insane. Many psi-officers who survive their training and genetic modification still suffer from untreatable migraines, nightmares and in rare cases, random black outs. A complete overhaul of the Psionic Operations division of Valour was needed and Science Councilor Magkorson jumped at the challenge.
Telekinesis, astral projection, pyrokinesis, and even mind control was just a sample of powers that Magkorson had envisioned for this new breed of super soldiers. While his vision of psionic soldiers was eventually realized in the advanced training of Wardens and Telepaths, he had to cut back his enthusiasm in the meantime.
Any child that has the necessary brain chemistry to support the modifications are by law taken from their families to be immediately rolled into Psionic Operations. This new law has increased the pool of potential recruits although the causality rate was still severe, especially if they were pushed to become combat psionic officers.
