There is no greater honour a kobold has than to be awarded knighthood. It takes decades of martial prowess in combat to be recognized but additionally they must spend an equal amount of time studying theology.
A knight must have perfected their body as well as their mind. These requirements shift from clan to clan, but the point is the same; knighthood is rarely given out on a whim. A knight embodies everything their clan stands for and when in foreign lands it is up them to represent their bloodline with utmost honour.
Most clans will require a potential knight to serve as a squire to a veteran knight for several years. Duties include maintenance of the knight’s weapons and armour, attending with them on political events along with advanced training techniques.
